CANDIDATES FOR OFFICE – 2021

Gary Schindler – Candidate for Treasurer
I am a 1999 graduate from the University of North Dakota with a Bachelor’s in Athletic Training and a 2001 graduate from the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse with a Master of Physical Therapy.  I completed my transitional Doctorate degree from MGHIHP in 2010.  In addition, I became a Board-Certified Orthopedic Specialist in 2008 and a Board-Certified Sports Specialist in 2015.  I have 20 years of experience in outpatient orthopedic setting with specialized training in manual therapy and dry needling.  I maintain a part-time clinical presence at an outpatient private practice setting.  I am the Program Director of UND’s Sports Physical Therapy Residency and currently a member of the ABPTRFE Standards Committee while having other responsibilities as a ABPTRFE Site Review and Cogent Steps ERA (Emergency Response for the Athlete) instructor.

I am interested in the treasurer position because I want to become more involved and to provide a positive impact on our profession at the state level.  I am excited about the possibility of being a part of the future growth of APTA North Dakota.  I am interested in serving as APTA North Dakota Treasurer as I believe I can make a positive and meaningful contribution.

Alison Fuhrman – Candidate for Delegate

I am a 2011 graduate from the University of North Dakota with Doctor of Physical Therapy.  I completed an 18-month residency program in 2015 through the Institute of Manipulative Physiotherapy & Clinical Training (IMPACT) to become a Certified Manual Physical Therapist (CMPT) and in 2017 became a Board-Certified Orthopedic Specialist.  I have 10 years of experience in outpatient orthopedic setting with specialization in manual therapy and vestibular rehab.  I started my own physical therapy practice, Connect Physical Therapy, in Fargo last September.

I am interested in the delegate position because I want to become more involved and to provide a lasting and positive impact on our profession at both the state and national levels.  I am excited about the possibility of being a part of the future growth and direction of the APTA.  I feel by serving as a delegate, I can help make sure our voices are heard with the everchanging landscape of healthcare.  The prospect of being able to provide input and to represent our state and the profession at a national level would be a great honor.

Brittany Anderson – Candidate for Member-at-Large > 30,000

Brittany attended the University of North Dakota where she earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2008.  She is an associate professor at the University of Jamestown Physical Therapy Program and invests hours through continuing education in the areas of Pediatric Incontinence, Neuromuscular Disorders, Genetic Syndromes, and Developmental Delay.  Brittany is a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Pediatric Physical Therapy and has published research in education and pediatric physical therapy peer-reviewed journals.

I have enjoyed my time as a member-at-large > 30,000 and have made connections with the NDBPT.  I would love to continue in this position for the next 3 years.

Mohamed Elhamadany – Candidate for Nominating Committee

Mohamed Elhamadany, PT, MS, PhD, DPT, PCS, is an Assistant Professor of Physical Therapy at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine & Health Sciences.  Mohamed received his BSPT, MS, and PhD in Physical Therapy for Pediatrics and Pediatric Surgery from Cairo University and his DPT from Dominican College.  He is recognized by ABPTS as Pediatric Clinical Specialist (PCS).  He teaches in the areas of pediatrics, research, evidence-based practice, and neuroscience.  Prior to joining UND-PT faculty, Mohamed worked in a variety of pediatric settings for over 20 years.  He also has been an APTA credentialed clinical instructor for many years.  He is an active member in the APTA and American Academy of Pediatric Physical Therapy.  His areas of research interest are primarily in pediatrics, EMG, motion analysis, disease and functioning taxonomies, and virtual reality.

I am interested in serving on the nominating committee-APTA North Dakota as I believe I can make a positive and meaningful contribution.  I will encourage my colleagues at APTA North Dakota to be part of the solution, and the only way we do that is by putting ourselves out there to be involved in committees and other service opportunities.  I have served on a number of professional and organizational committees, such as UND-PT Curriculum Committee, UCP/NYC safe patient handling committee, and the SMHS Biomedical and Health Sciences curriculum committee to which I was recently elected.

Mandy Peerboom – Candidate for Nominating Committee

My name is Mandy Peerboom, PT, DPT, MTC, and I am currently a physical therapist at Mees Physical Therapy in Lincoln, ND.  I attended the University of Mary Physical Therapy Program in Bismarck, ND.  I graduated with a DPT in 2017.  My experiences have ranged from acute/inpatient/SNF/outpatient, outpatient orthopedics/women’s health and private practice.  My first job was out in Idaho, but I missed North Dakota too much and took a traveling position in Rugby, ND.  Then I landed a permanent position at an outpatient position in Lincoln, ND.  I did recently receive my manual therapy certification through Evidence in Motion.  I have taken multiple courses from Herman and Wallace Institute for pelvic floor involving women and pediatrics.  I am running for the Nominating Committee in hopes of serving and being more involved with my fellow physical therapists that share a passion for this profession.  I would look forward to continuing my efforts to the APTA North Dakota where help is needed and always to advocate for our profession.
